GCJF Cheer/Dance/Auxiliary Competition
Registration & Rules

Registration 8-9 a.m. Competition 9 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Awards 12:30
REGISTRATION:
Each group can pre-register by sending the name and age of each individual in the group, the name of the group, and the type of talent they will be performing to Amanda Shamblin, 6464 State Route 7 South, Gallipolis, Ohio 45631. Groups can also register the morning of the competition. Each group MUST check-in the day of the competition between 8-9 a.m. to pay the $20 entry fee. Please DO NOT mail any money/checks when pre-registering. No Late Registrations will be accepted after 9 a.m. competition begins.
DIVISIONS:
Each cheer/dance/auxiliary group will be divided into the following classifications:
Senior – Group must consist of two or more members grades 9-12
Junior – Group must consist of two or more members grades 5-8
Youth – Group must consist of two of more members grades K-5
*Group age divisions will be based on the majority of the ages of its members.
*Group grade divisions will be based on the upcoming school year.
PERFORMANCE AREA:
The performance area will be on the main stage. Groups must be able to perform their routines on this stage. On-stage props are encouraged (pom pons, signs, etc.).
ROUTINE AND TIME:
Each dance/auxiliary group’s routine must only consist of dancing. Each cheer squad’s routine may consist of entrance, chants, cheers, *dance (*must be included with a cheer and/or chant), and exit. Routines have a maximum (no minimum) limit of 4 minutes. Timing starts when the first contestant enters the performance area or first motion or word is spoken by the squad after their name has been called to perform. Timing ends when the last contestant leaves the stage. Entrance and exit will be included in the 4 minutes. There may be a penalty of up to 1 point off for each minute gone over the 4 minute limit (from 1 judge’s accumulative score). Tumbling is permitted, but NO stunting. Groups need to bring a CD labeled with group name and track to be used clearly stated.
JUDGING AND SCORING:
There will be at least 3 qualified judges for this competition. The total score of all judges will be added together to determine the final places. A first place trophy will be given within each age division to the group with the highest accumulative score. A runner-up award will be given to the group with the second highest accumulative score. The total possible points from each judge will be out of 100 points. The basis for judging is shown below.
Each age division is judged separately, judges can break ties, and the decision of the judges is final.
Official Competition Judging
Overall Execution – Precision of motions/timing/formation spacing/use of area 30 points
Projection – Voice/expression/showmanship/spirit 20 points
Fundamentals – Motion technique/jumps/tumbling 20 points
Overall Appeal – Choreography/creativity/degree of difficulty 20 points
Appearance – Neatness/uniformity/posture 10 points
